Last week I attended the  VIP Claire’s launch at the Bassa Art Studio. I was so in love with the beautiful colours of the flowers and the way the studio was done up.

Comfy in Kicks

Nike is one of my all time favourite sports brands because of their quality and ever changing style that is always being updated. Lets not get started on their sneakers or better known as ‘kicks’. Since 2014, people have gone absolutely crazy over the sneaker trend and it hasn’t simmered down in the slightest way, but instead it keeps escalating. I have no problem with that because I am SO into the trend, its eye-candy for me. Besides that, sneakers are so comfy and way stylish!

Essence Gel Nail Polish Review

Hello all!

I recently tried out the new Gel Nails from Essence Cosmetics and I wanted to share with you guys that I works much better than their previous gel range. First apply the base coat (it can be any base coat really as it is only for protection), then I did two coats of the colour polish and lastly I put one good coat of the Gel top coat. And there you have it! One thing I learnt was that the polish needs quite some time to dry, do not apply the top coat unless you are absolutely sure that the nail polish has dried properly, else you’ll have tiny bubbles appearing in the nail polish. ( I forgot to add a picture of the top coat)

My nails lasted for about a week without chipping which is pretty good for such inexpensive products. My first of many colours was white and I will definitely be heading out to add a few other colours to my collection!

Clicks COSMO Cover Girl Workshop

Let me start off by stating how much I enjoyed this event at 15 on Orange African Pride Hotel this past Saturday. Wowzer, what a fabulous day Cosmopolitan SA together with Clicks planned out for us. A big thank you to the team behind the event I thoroughly enjoyed it.

All the guests were welcomed with tea,coffee and a light buffet breakfast which might I add, was delicious. We were moved off to the conference rooms for some COSMO talk!

Cathy Lund, the Editor of Cosmopolitan SA gave us such a great talking that inspired the ladies to “own their own space” and to establish the “Fun, Fearless, Female” within you.

Juana, the Beauty Editor of Cosmo shared with us some of her beauty secrets. She also gave us some essential beauty tips that I will definitely be making use of.

1. Know what you have  in your make-up bag. This will allow you to stop spending unnecessarily on things you already have.

2. Check expiry dates. Don’t be a make-up hoarder, get rid of the expired stuff.

3. Look at ingredients. Certain products contain specific ingredients that might or might not agree with your skin-type. Find out what type of skin you have and then find products that have the ingredients that suits it best.

4. Read reviews on the product. Juana says beauty bloggers give the most unbiased opinion on products and cosmetics.

5. Take a friend. When you go out to buy cosmetics, take someone with who will give you their honest opinion. You will need to go without any make up on so that you can try out all the different samples and testers, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

Cosmo Fashion Director, Poppy, gave us the 411 on the timeless Little Black Dress. The LBD is a classic staple that should be hanging in each woman’s closet. There are so many different variations of the LBD to suit each woman differently, so there is no excuse not to have one. You can dress it up or you can dress it down, either way you cannot go wrong with a LBD. And just so you know, one LBD is not enough.

Can you guess what was next on the itinerary? PAMPER SESSION!

There were some great products on display that I cannot wait to add to my beauty bag. Along with all the other ladies, I got a complete COSMO make over which included nails, hair, make up, and a chance to try out Air Optix Colors contact lenses which came in a variety of colours. I chose blue!

After finding the right LBD, we got to do a photo shoot. The gorgeous Joelle Kayemb, an International Model, separately gave each lovely lady a quick master class in cover girl posing. I loved it! Guess who is on the cover?

All who attended got their very own copy of this month’s Cosmo issue with their picture printed on the cover. FANTASTIC!

A Look for Date Night

Saturday was date night! Just thought I’d do a quick outfit post.

If my feet allowed me to wear heels everyday I would do just that, but we all know it is NOT easy to do. Because of this, I decided to opt for a lower heel because 1: I wanted to be more comfortable, 2: I did not want to look too over-dressed, and 3: simply because laced-up and strappy heels are so HOT right now!

# Twinning – (Twin + Winning)

The amount of times I have mumbled to myself “I wish I had a twin” is pretty much uncountable. Yes twins are cute especially when they dress the same, but there is more to it than that. Giving birth to a child is a miracle on its own, but having twins, triplets, quadruplets etc is something extraordinary don’t you think? Imagine two little embryos changing and growing inside their mother’s womb at the same time, amazing!

The thought of having someone so close to being exactly like me sounds like hell (I’m not easy to deal with) but more than anything else it seems utterly wonderful if you ask me. Ask me why, my answer is simple. Having a twin means that I could finally be able to say “twinzies!” when we have something that is the same, and I can finally use the hashtag “#twining”. JK (just kidding).

I think that having a twin means having someone who could possibly share the same brainwaves as you and maybe you’d be able to finish each other’s sentences just like we see in the movies i.e. 22 Jump Street. It can also mean that you’d get to play pranks on people and have them scratching their heads in confusion. But I think the best reason would be that having a twin means you will have someone who will be there for you no matter what. I have come across a few set of twins in my life thus far and have been around them long enough to notice something so beautiful. When things get heated, twins stand by each other and when they’re not defending themselves from each other’s fists they’re busy defending each other from the ‘bad guys’ (friends or people who attempt to hurt or cause some type of pain upon a twin/sibling). Dylan and Aspen are the twins I photographed and I asked Dylan if he fought with his twin brother a lot and he told me “No, not anymore we just argue sometimes.” I then asked them if they loved each other and they both agreed that they do indeed have that ‘brotherly love’  for one another. Dylan told me “I would do anything for him (Aspen).” Now isn’t that just the cutest thing?

For those that have siblings, I do not doubt for one second that you would take a bullet for your brother or sister. But as for twins, I think they will always be there for their other half. Here’s to me still wishing I had a twin or someone very similar to me so that we could fulfill all the things I have mentioned above (including #twinning). Also, I hope you and your siblings share many happy moments together, love and stand by each other, and resolve all issues peacefully and immediately. If not, learn how to because life is too short!

The Food Barn – Cafe Roux

So today I went on a date…..with my mother! The sun was out and so we decided to take advantage of it. My mom chose Cafe Roux because it was 5 minutes away from our home and she heard that the food was good! This cute place in Noordhoek has a few little cafes/restaurants as well as a nursery, bakery and little shops with unusual items (tourist things).

I ordered a ‘Mexican-style Wrap’ because it sounded so yummy and oh my, it was delicious! It was a wrap filled with sirloin steak pieces, cheddar cheese, tomato salsa, jalapenos and yogurt and a salad on the side that has such a lovely dressing. To drink, I had a frappuccino because I felt like coffee but didn’t want to get too hot with my ‘hot’ meal and all.

Men’s Street Style

I think that men’s fashion has become interesting with all the new evolving trends i.e. tights and tall T’s that look like dresses. But apart from that, men’s street style has now become part of the hype for a while now and I admire people who have good taste in clothing and  have their own cool and creative sense of style.

I wanted to switch my little blog up a bit and I felt like doing something fun and new! By now you have probably figured it out, and yes this is a men’s street style post! 😀

I decided to swerve past all the mediocre blog posts by blogging about things that not only interest me, but will hopefully interest other people too, and in that way more people will be able to relate to my posts. When we push ourselves to try new things, its surprising to see what we are actually capable of. 

Stuff like this is actually so much fun if you do it as a hobby, like I do. During the making of this blog post, not only did I get to test my own creativeness, I also needed to tap into new skills  (I’m no photographer, I only know the basics) I also got to help someone else feel comfortable in front of the camera! (maybe its just because he’s my boyfriend haha). Doing a look post for menswear was a teeny tiny little goal I had for my blog and of course there is so much more to come.

I asked @brandonandrews to be my muse and it was both our first time doing something like this. I grabbed a few things from his cupboard  that I liked and on my way home we just quickly took some photos. The sun was setting really fast and all the stops either had poor lighting or an awful background. Luckily I had a mini brain wave and I’m happy with the outcome. 🙂

Retro Rain Jacket

What’s your take on the latest hype over old-school clothing?

Personally I think it can be cool at times, but I won’t go filling my wardrobe up with a whole bunch of retro clothing. I must admit that some people pull that ‘old-school’ look off really well with their authentic over sized jackets, tight skinny jeans, some vans and funny glasses that only the brave will wear. Finger snaps for these cool kids who were probably born in the wrong era, your style is fabbo!

Speaking of old-school fashion, I found this rain jacket at the back of my mom’s cupboard and thought it would definitely come in handy during the upcoming season of Winter. To me this is not stylish at all but hey according to my mom, it does the job of keeping me dry! Don’t I look like Paddington Bear?

I also got these Jelly Chelsea Boots which are the cuter version of wellingtons. These come from Mr Price and are affordable, so you better get your dry-shoes before the rain comes!
